Walking along a cobblestone path, Tracey Davis was lost in her thoughts. Sixth year was here and the Dark Lord is steadily rising. She was scared but she daren’t admit that, especially not now. Her parents were off making plans of escape, some sort of hide-away, trying not to get involved in the war. She scoffed, kicking a stone off the side of the path. Cowards. She thought. They were playing it safe. If the Dark Lord wins, then they come out and worship him, claiming to be forever loyal and all sorts of nonsense; if not then they deny any sort of involvement in the war. Pathetic.
Tracey doesn’t have the best relationship with her parents. Oh she loves them, yes, but that’s because they’re her parents. She pretty much owes them her life but she never really did admire them. Her mother cared too much about silly things, material comfort, social status, gossip. Whereas her father only cared about the family business and the Davis’ reputation. Both so aloof in different ways. But what she disliked the most about them is their faltering loyalty, selfishness and superficiality. Honour doesn’t mean anything to them and they use people at their own convenience. Even their own daughter. In all honesty, they even told her they wanted a son but then she came out. Thanks Mum, thanks Dad, I love you too. So she grew up with the companionship of books and house elves. Which made her unlike them, yes, she believes in blood purity, but she gives credit where credit is due. Though she is quite cold and untrusting towards nearly everyone; she is fiercely loyal to her friends and will stick by them through anything, including the war. So when her parents asked her to come with them in some country miles and miles away, she replied with a simple and blunt; No.
